Jared Hollins – Week 5’s Player of the Week
Week five of the high school football season came to a close leaving many incredible performances in its wake. However, when it came to selecting our Greene & Phillips Player of the Week, only one stood out head and shoulders above the rest.
This time, our focus shifted towards Mary G. Montgomery High School, where Emily Cochran and David Greene recognized the the outstanding effort by Hornets quarterback, Jared Hollins. Hollins is a senior committed to South Alabama who managed to complete 11 of 13 passes for a staggering 182 yards and boasted four touchdowns in Friday night’s game. Thanks to Hollins’ superior performance, the Vikings clinched a resounding victory over Alma Bryant, finishing the game 42 to 7.
J. David Greene, managing partner of Greene & Phillips, presented the Player of the Week title emphasizing how South Alabama will be receiving an exceptionally talented player in the form of Hollins.
Hollins humbly deflects the praise towards his teammates. “It was a good performance. But I can’t do anything without the guys up front and my receivers catching the ball,” he said, highlighting the importance of teamwork in securing a win.
Hollins also expressed his gratitude for being recognized as the Player of the Week but emphasized that he is already looking ahead towards upcoming matches. “It’s always amazing to be appreciated. but I just got to put it behind me and get ready for this next week.”
Head Coach, Zach Golson, had nothing but praise for Hollins. He emphasized Hollins’ commendable leadership traits, stating, “He’s one of the best leaders I’ve ever been around.” Golson went on to describe Hollins as an “excellent young man, a great leader in our community, and an outstanding ambassador for our school.”
We extend heartfelt congratulations to Jared Hollins and the Vikings for their impressive performance against the Hurricanes. We also thank Fox 10 First & 10 for partnering with us in recognizing and celebrating talented high school athletes each week.
